Sustainability is a very messy subject that is an inexorable part of the future as we know it. This subject, like many "green" subjects, has taken the U.S. food industry by surprise. As in all cases it is far better to be ahead of the general learning curve than behind it. Being ahead of the trends that affect our industry is integral to our business model at North Atlantic.

The seafood industry is unique in that many seafood products are wild caught and therefore directly impact the public’s perception of environmental stewardship. GMRI, due to its unbiased science based approach to problem solving is perfectly positioned to lead the way as the messy subject of sustainability develops into useful and concrete concepts. While other NGOs build their solutions and philosophies based on political agenda, we choose to work with GMRI and base our decisions based on their good science and worldwide reach.
