Tom Farmer has served as GMRI's Interactive Media Producer and educational web content developer since 2000. He currently builds and maintains content and acts as primary contractor liaison for Audio-Visual and Information Technology within GMRIs LabVenture! program. His specialty is turning far-flung ideas into reality. Tom works directly with GMRIs education group, lending strong expertise in educational theory and practice, visual communication, and technology integration.
Tom came to GMRI with a combination of terrestrial ecology and teaching experience. As a research assistant, he worked on stream flow, population, and landscape studies across eastern Massachusetts, the northern plains of Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota, and the mountains of eastern and western Washington state. Tom moved into formal science and technology classroom education following several years as an outdoor and environmental educator. He taught middle and high school level students in Wenatchee, Washington, Brunswick, and Yarmouth, Maine.
Tom received his undergraduate B.S. in Biology, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Science from Tufts University and his M.A. Teaching degree specializing in middle level science and technology education from Tufts and Lesley Universities.
