We lost a friend, supporter, and advisor when board member Charles “Kip” Moore passed away this January.
Kip was passionate about philanthropy, the environment, and education. He believed in the power of Mainers to do extraordinary things and in the potential of the Gulf of Maine as an economic engine for the region. Humble and unassuming in nature, Kip was a mainstay of Maine’s entrepreneurial community for more than 20 years, providing mentorship and early-stage investment for Maine-based technology companies.
“Kip gave so much of himself to this community, serving on boards, investing in Maine startups and advising them. He was the ‘go-to’ sage on so many big issues for so many of us,” said Corson Ellis, GMRI board chair. “He didn’t have to do all this, but he did. We have lost a great friend in many, many ways.”
