Jessica Gribbon Joyce joined GMRI in 2009 as a technical specialist for the Sector Initiative within the Community Program. In this capacity, she coordinates the development of environmental assessments (EAs) and assists with the preparation of sector operation plans. During a contract position at GMRI in summer 2008, Jessica worked on an impact analysis of the Marine Resource Education Program.
Jessica has over five years of experience in environmental consulting, with an emphasis on preparing documents pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), including EAs, environmental impact assessments (EISs), coastal zone consistency determinations, and endangered species and essential fish habitat consultations. Before moving back to New England from the DC-metro area, she focused on environmental impact assessment of federal regulations on marine life and coastal communities.
Jessica grew up in New England, and her field work with the spiny lobster industry in Florida and interest in public involvement in policymaking led her to GMRIs Community Program. She also volunteers on her towns Shellfish Conservation Commission. Jessica holds both a B.A. and M.A. in Marine Affairs and Policy from the University of Miami and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.
