Peter is a M.Sc. candidate at the University of Maine School of Marine Sciences and is working with Dr. Pershing in the Ecosystem Modeling Lab at GMRI in Portland. Peter's research interests include the coupling of the physical and biological systems in the ocean, using mathematics to answer ecological questions, and applying novel technologies to marine problems. A driving question behind his research is: how do flows in the oceans (currents, waves, turbulence) affect the biology? Currently his work involves quantifying the dynamic relationship between internal waves and krill behavior and looking at how this interaction may play a role in generating biological hotspots in the Gulf of Maine.
