Gary Tilton
Data Specialist
Gary joined the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in March of 2016 as the Development Data Specialist. He supports the data and process needs of the development team. With a lifetime interest in oceanography, Gary is delighted to be working in service to ocean science, education, and community.
Gary came to GMRI with over three decades of experience across the sectors of basic scientific research, biotechnology, and information technology. As part of a Biochemistry and Environmental Studies coordinate major at Bowdoin College, Gary studied shoreline ecosystems. This work led to a role in chemical oceanography at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, with a focus on coastal Atlantic systems.
In the following years, Gary pursued biotechnology roles, including new product research and development, customer technical support, and information technology management. A “transplant” to Maine in 1972, Gary joins family and friends to celebrate nature over our four great seasons with cross-country skiing, ice skating, bicycling, hiking, and running.
