2026 Waterfront Summit

Join the City of Portland's Sustainability Office and Department of Economic Development for a first-of-its-kind Waterfront Summit, hosted at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. Property owners, business owners, and all waterfront stakeholders in Portland are invited for a discussion on the future of our waterfront.

Participants will hear about several upcoming initiatives — from sea level rise to the City's 10-year Comprehensive Plan — and have the opportunity to share feedback and input as these projects get underway. Attendees will hear about the ever-changing nature of our waterfront, see projections for sea level rise on Commercial Street, review the Waterfront goals from the Comprehensive Plan, and contribute to discussion around potential solutions.

The first half of the event will include presentations and a panel discussion, followed by a casual reception featuring visuals that envision potential solutions for the waterfront, where attendees can share their own ideas. Attendees from Maine Blue Economy Week are also invited to join the reception.
