Sea State: Building Climate Ready Communities
5:30 PM–7:30 PM | Gulf of Maine Research Institute | PublicAn interactive event featuring Hannah Baranes, Coastal Scientist at GMRI, and Brian Ambrette, Director of the Maine State Resilience Office.

Join us for a timely conversation on supporting Maine communities in adapting to climate change, now and in the future.
Brian Ambrette, Director of the Maine State Resilience Office, a division of the new Maine Office of Community Affairs (MOCA), will share how it is bringing people and programs together to tackle interconnected issues—from climate resilience to land use—through coordinated, community-driven solutions. In partnership, Dr. Hannah Baranes, Research Scientist at GMRI, will highlight the work being done as part of our new Climate Ready Communities Initiative, which brings together GMRI’s science, engagement, education, and industry expertise to support the region’s communities in adapting to climate change. Together, the speakers will then take a deeper dive into Maine’s growing challenge of coastal flooding, and the solutions, tools, and science that will provide a clear roadmap toward stronger, more prepared communities.
Doors will open at 5:30 pm with complimentary refreshments available, and the program will begin at 6:00 pm. Free parking is available for all registered attendees in the lot adjacent to our building.
