Maine Blue Economy Week

The MBEW program features:

  • Panel discussions that explored key trends shaping the future of blue economy investment, with insights from investors, entrepreneurs, industry experts, and policymakers.
  • Startup spotlights with fast-paced presentations offering snapshots of emerging innovations and investment opportunities shaping the market.
  • Exhibitor showcases where attendees could engage with founders and organizations driving and supporting innovation across the blue economy.

For three years, our Blue Economy Investment Summit brought investors, entrepreneurs, and ecosystem builders to Portland to explore the future of ocean innovation. As the summit grew, we saw a chance to offer attendees something better by working alongside partners across Maine.

In 2026 we created Maine Blue Economy Week with Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, the University of Maine, Northeastern University’s Roux Institute, and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. Pooling our resources, expertise, and energy allowed us to bring researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, students, policymakers, and marine industry leaders from across sectors together in one room. Over three days, more than 300 people came together for keynotes, panels, startup spotlights, and field trips to businesses and research centers across the state.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped the summit get its start, and we’re excited to keep building on it together.
