    The Grant Writer will be a member of GMRI’s Development Team, which plays a pivotal role in nurturing the philanthropic and community support needed to ensure the long-term success of the organization. Primary responsibilities will include: drafting, editing, proofreading, and assembling a variety of corporate and foundation requests; leading data maintenance, resource maintenance, and filing related to corporate and foundation grants; supporting corporate and foundation strategies and communications; and prospect research.

  • Administrative Assistant, Education Programs

    The Administrative Assistant (AA) will support the team responsible for designing and delivering GMRI’s programming for formal and informal educators and youth across the state of Maine and the Northeast. This dynamic group develops curriculum and resources, and conducts professional learning, for teachers, librarians, and informal educators working in contexts that range from classrooms to land trusts and 4-H clubs. The AA will provide general administrative support for the team but will have a particular focus on supporting our busy calendar of community engagement. We strive to provide excellent customer service for the educators in our programs and will continue to expand that network through a variety of funded projects over the coming years.

  • Physical Oceanography Research Scientist

    GMRI is seeking qualified candidates to establish a new research group that investigates the physical oceanography of the Gulf of Maine and adjacent bodies of water — specifically around questions relating to circulation changes in the NW Atlantic, drivers of warming and interannual variability in ocean temperature and sea level in the Gulf of Maine, etc. The successful candidate will have experience and interest in building a research group using multiple investigatory techniques and datasets including remote sensing observations. A strong quantitative background in, and technical knowledge of, atmosphere-ocean interactions, teleconnections, and/or climate modes (and their manifestations in the marine domain) as applied to questions akin to those above is preferred. The successful candidate will function as part of an interdisciplinary research program focusing on climate, physical, biological, and socio-economic factors that affect the Gulf of Maine ecosystem and the communities that depend on it for their livelihoods and well-being.
