Claire Noble

Donor Engagement Coordinator

Claire joined the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in January 2026 as the Donor Engagement Coordinator. In this role, she develops and executes donor-centered outreach, communications, and experiences that help donors and stakeholders connect more deeply to GMRI’s mission and impact. Working across the Development team and the organization, Claire supports donor cultivation, stewardship, and retention through thoughtful engagement strategies, cross-departmental collaboration, and events designed to build lasting relationships that advance GMRI’s science and community-based work.

Claire brings more than a decade of experience supporting mission-driven organizations through community-centered outreach, events, and strategic communications. Her background spans federal government, nonprofit and advocacy work, and the local food economy and includes roles as a presidential appointee at the National Endowment for the Humanities, Vice President of a boutique public relations and events firm, and Director of Community at a food business incubator.

Having grown up in New England, Claire has a deep personal connection to coastal communities, fisheries, and food systems, and is motivated by work that supports healthy oceans and thriving coastal livelihoods. After 12 years of missing ocean breezes and cold winters, she relocated from Washington, DC to Maine in 2024 to be closer to nature. She lives in South Portland with her husband, Charlie, and spends her weekends at the farmers’ market, hiking local trails, cold water dipping, and cooking for friends.
