Sam Fuss

LabVenture Educator

Sam joined GMRI in 2026 as a LabVenture Educator.  She is delighted to continue engaging students in place-based and hands on learning so close to an incredible environmental resource.  She completed her undergraduate degree in botany and art at Connecticut College and then moved around from there, recently moving more permanently to Maine.

Before coming to GMRI, Sam was a seasonal environmental educator in various states from Maryland up to Maine, working with K-12 and the general public.  Most recently, she is coming from the Schoodic Institute and Acadia National Park, where she was teaching all kinds of subjects from soil to tide pools and back again.  Although her study background is primarily in botany and terrestrial ecology, as a lifelong learner she has been excitedly taking in as much marine ecology as she possibly can!

When not at work, Sam is almost always in the company of her dog, Wesley: exploring, crafting, puzzling, and learning together! Â
