Voices of the Gulf of Maine: The Charter Boat
Voices of the Gulf of Maine | Oct 17, 2016
For charter boat captain Carle Hildreth, recreational fishing is serious business. As owner of No Slack! Sportfishing, Carle helps his clients chase striped bass throughout Casco Bay.
Stripers are Carle's passion, and he's keenly interested in understanding and protecting this iconic species for generations to come.
Carle is a key partner in our Snap-A-Striper research project — a citizen science initiative which enlists anglers to help collect data about these beautiful fish. Over the past three years, he has submitted over 300 photos.
Our researchers use these images to explore important questions about the stripers we see in the Gulf of Maine. They hope the answers to these questions will help Carle and his clients continue to catch stripers long into the future.
