Marine Resource Education Program (MREP) In-Person Workshops Resume
Tidings | Mar 15, 2022
Across the country, fishermen eager to engage effectively in fisheries science and management processes will be returning to in-person MREP workshops throughout the year.
The Marine Resource Education Program (MREP) is resuming in-person workshops this year. These workshops, developed by fishermen, for fishermen, empower participants with a better understanding of how, when, and where to engage effectively in fisheries science and management processes. Across the country, much is at stake for these fishermen as they work to build sustainable, resilient fisheries in the face of evolving challenges.
It’s more important than ever to provide fishermen with a neutral platform to learn the ins and outs of fisheries science and management, share regionally relevant insights, and gain access to fisheries scientists and managers who are eager to collaborate. To ensure fishermen from up and down both coasts have the opportunity to participate, we have workshops planned this year in Maryland, Florida, California, and Puerto Rico.
"There is nothing quite like the magic that happens when fishermen can get together to teach and learn from one another face-to-face. That’s why we are so excited to resume in-person workshops.”
