Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Winter Field Season

1:30 PM–2:15 PM | Online | Public

Connect with professional and community scientists in learning about and collecting data to protect hemlock trees in the Northeast.

Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Winter Field Season

Where is hemlock woolly adelgid now, and where might it spread next? Is climate change affecting how hemlock woolly adelgid spreads?

Participate in the Project Hemlock Woolly Adelgid field season with your students this winter and become part of the effort to answer these questions, protect hemlock trees in the Northeast, and contribute critical data to the Maine Forest Service.

We will kick off the season with a live, virtual conversation with Maine Forest Service Entomologist, Colleen Teerling, Maine DACF Horticulturist, Gary Fish, and student speakers. Students will then go out, make observations, and submit their data. To wrap-up the season, we will have another chance to come together as a project community where students from all over the region have a chance to discuss their findings with the project leaders and each other.

Curious how to get started, need an overview of the supporting resources? Check out this educator info session and reach out to Abigail ([email protected]) with questions.
