Greta Grillo

LabVenture Assistant Educator

Greta joined GMRI in 2024 as a LabVenture Educator. Greta received her B.S. in Community Environment & Development from Penn State University and her M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Washington with a concentration in place-based education. She also completed her Graduate Certificate in Education for Environment and Community.

Before joining GMRI, Greta held various roles at Chewonki Elementary & Middle School in Wiscasset, ME, most recently as the Director and 5th and 6th grade math teacher. Her background includes teaching environmental education to students of all ages both on land and at sea. The most fun she’s had as an educator was teaching marine science and maritime skills on the historic schooner Adventuress in Puget Sound. Greta is thrilled to join the LabVenture team and continue engaging students in place-based scientific inquiry.

When she’s not at work, Greta can be found exploring the Maine coast with her husband and son: sailing on the Harraseeket River, hiking and xc-skiing on local trails, gardening, or running. If she’s forced to be inside, she will probably have knitting needles in hand.
