Leah Sturm

Leah joined GMRI in January 2023 as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Development Officer and Chief Science Officer. Leah holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and Geology from Cornell College of Iowa.

Prior to joining GMRI, Leah worked in environmental consulting as a project manager and environmental scientist. Leah also has experience supporting several public and non-profit organizations.

Growing up in a Midwest farming community, Leah has held on to a tie to agriculture. Over time this has developed into an interest in farming, food insecurity, and sustainable agriculture. She is excited to be a part of GMRI, gain additional knowledge about fisheries, and support the Development and Science departments.

In her free time, Leah can be found enjoying time with her family, exploring the outdoors in all seasons through camping, hiking, xc skiing, running, and gardening, or curled up with a good book.
