Lisa Janicki
Director, Sponsored Projects Office
Lisa joined GMRI in June 2020 as the Research Development Manager. In her role, she oversees GMRI’s submission process for federal grants, tracks federal requirements around the conduct of research, and develops and implements policies to ensure compliance. She works with researchers on identifying funding opportunities and supports them through the proposal development stages.
Before joining GMRI, Lisa worked in nonprofit management, including at the public radio project StoryCorps, and, more recently, in higher education administration. She attended law school in the Pacific Northwest and received her J.D. from Lewis & Clark. She received her B.A. from Middlebury College, where she studied sociology, anthropology, and creative writing.
Lisa is a proud upstate-New Yorker, but fell in love with Portland during college when she spent a semester at the Salt Center for Documentary Studies. She now can’t imagine living away from the ocean, in which she swims as often as possible. She’s also an avid reader, runner, and boxer, and is happiest with a dog (or several) by her side.
