Nana Annan

Nana Annan joined the Gulf of Maine Research Institute as Chief Operating Officer in May 2024. She brings over 25 years of strategic leadership experience to GMRI. She is responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic impact initiatives, scaling operations across the organization, and fostering a culture of creativity, inclusion, innovation, and collaboration to make GMRI one of the best places to work.

Prior to joining GMRI, Nana served as COO at Harlem Children Zone. There, she developed and implemented organizational strategic priorities, systems, and processes, and oversaw and supported several operational and programmatic departments. Before that, Nana served as COO at the Boys’ Club of New York, where she developed and executed strategic plans to strengthen the organization’s management capacity. She also managed a wide range of operational areas.

Nana holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Spelman College and a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law.
