Jared Wildwistle
Business Climate Action Program Manager
Jared Wildwistle manages the Business Climate Action Program (BCAP) in the Climate Center. Created in 2022, this program seeks to engage businesses in the blue economy as they navigate climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. Further, the BCAP’s goal is to spread awareness of the skills and knowledge required to implement those strategies to a diverse range of partners.
Jared Joined GMRI in 2022 with a passion for climate change solutions that balance the environmental sustainability concerns and financial realities that many business owners face. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 2013 with a BA in Psychology with a minor in Ecological Agriculture. Jared helped found Flight Deck Brewing in Brunswick, ME before pursing dual Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Ecology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Maine. His Master’s thesis focused on the economic, social, and environmental factors that impact restaurant’s ability to adopt reusable takeout packaging.
Jared is interested in any activity that gets him outside, spending much of his time hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking, or simply enjoying a good walk. Other interests of his include gardening, fermentation (both beverages and food), and cooking.
