Jeff Bate

Jeff Bate is a Senior Product Manager with GMRI’s Gulf of Maine Ventures team. He is responsible for the development of commercialization opportunities at GMRI and collaboration with partner organizations and institutions throughout the region.

In addition, Jeff manages technology product development for GMRI’s Education programs. He first joined GMRI in 2016 as the Project Manager of the NASA-funded Real World, Real Science project and currently supports interactive education experiences for a range of GMRI’s audiences, such as middle school youth and fishery stakeholders.

Prior to GMRI, Jeff held product management roles for several cleantech companies, including EnerNOC, OptiRTC, and Banyan Water. In these roles, he managed the design and development of real-time monitoring and control platforms to enable smarter water and energy use decisions.

Jeff received his A.B. in Geography, with a minor in Environmental Studies, from Dartmouth College. He also has an M.S. in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering from Tufts University, where his research focused on watershed systems modeling. Outside of work, you’re most likely to find him on a mountain, in a river, or atop a bicycle.
