Educator Professional Development

Supporting professional learning for educators in Maine and beyond.

Across our education efforts we support educators with professional learning opportunities that help them engage students in authentic science learning experiences. Workshops introduce educators to our curriculum resources and programs focused on the process of scientific inquiry, working with data, and current science research about climate and ecosystem change in the region. In addition to growing comfort with these resources and topics, educators build meaningful connections with one another and leave connected to a community of fellow educators.

Educator Professional Development Goals:

  • Provide opportunities for educators to learn about and gain comfort with resources designed to promote authentic science experiences for learners.
  • Support educators as they plan how to bring new resources back to their unique teaching and learning contexts.
  • Connect and grow a supportive network of educators working to evolve science teaching and learning.

"This was hands-down one of the best facilitated and structured workshops I've ever attended. The resources are high-quality and the training on how to use them was effective.

"My head has been spinning ever since, thinking of all the ways I want to use this work with my middle school and high school students. It really was one of those workshops which leaves you chomping at the bit to get it going in your own classroom.
